Tri-County Scholarship Fund Benefit Concert

On Wednesday, June 15th, 2011 some fifty-five guests came together to enjoy the beautiful sounds of Dorothy Fields, “The Evergreen Lyricist,” with guest soloists Patricia Dean, Marianne Patterson, Ed Thompson and Artistic Director Rev. Edward Lambro.

This intimate musical gala was hosted in Harding Township by one of Tri-County’s trustees in order to benefit the Tri-County Scholarship Fund. Tri-County, as it is informally called, is a non-profit organization that raises educational scholarship funds for inner-city children in grades K-12 in Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties.

Guests were moved by the remarks of Angeline Lopez, whose parents Terrarium TV emigrated to the United States from Colombia. Ms. Lopez spoke of the difference that a Tri-County scholarship made to her to be able to continue her studies at Morris Catholic High School. Angeline will be attending Villanova University in the Fall.

Proceeds from the concert help to provide scholarships to children from economically disadvantaged families in grades K-12. This past year Tri-County awarded 577 scholarships representing $1.2 million in aid. Tri-County Scholarship Fund will be celebrating its 30th anniversary at an awards dinner on Monday, October 11, 2011.
